MEET THE COACHES

 

Dan Mark, Varsity Head Coach

Dan Mark begins his 37th season behind the Stoughton bench in 2017-18. Coach Mark began his Stoughton career as an assistant coach in the 1981-82 season, where he served in that capacity for two years under Ray O'Malley  before taking the head coaching job in 1983-84. Dan has coached the Black Knights for 36 of the 49 years of the program's existence. Guiding the team to six Mulloy Sportsmanship awards in his career, Dan was honored with induction into the Massachusetts High School Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014.  Prior to coming to Stoughton, Dan coached at BC High as an assistant from 1979-1981. He has actively been involved in off-season coaching, as he has previously coached in the Cranberry Cup High School Summer League in Bridgewater, for Mohawks Youth Hockey, Tri-County Saints Youth Hockey, as well as Hub City Hockey. He currently coaches in the Foxboro Summer League during the off-season and is a USA Level 4 Certified Coach. Coach Mark was a standout player for Stoughton High School, playing on the varsity from 1970 to 1974. He was a captain on the varsity team during his junior and senior year. He then went on to play at UMass Amherst from 1974-1976, followed by Bridgewater State College, in which he was a captain in his senior year. Dan recently retired from teaching social studies at the 8th grade level at the O'Donnell Middle School in Stoughton, a post he held since 1980. He holds a B.S. in education from Bridgewater State College. Dan is the program liaison for the Stoughton Recreation Department's Summer Program. Coach Mark and his wife Karen live in Easton and have two children, son Greg and  daughter Andrea. Dan's son Greg played for the Oliver Ames varsity squad and currently attends the University of Tampa. His daughter Andrea played field hockey and ran track at Oliver Ames and is a graduate of Northeastern University. Additionally, Dan can be found coaching girls field hockey (which he has done since 1982),at Stoughton High, as well as serving as an assistant softball coach. Coach Mark also was assistant baseball coach for Stoughton from 1981 to 1995.

 

Frank Antonelli, Assistant Coach, JV Head Coach

Frank Antonelli has been the assistant varsity head coach with the Black Knights since 2013 and has also served as the junior varsity head coach since 2015. Prior to coming to Stoughton, Frank served as the varsity assistant coach an JV coach at Oliver Ames for 6 seasons. Coach Antonelli also spent time in Wrentham as an assistant varsity coach in 1989-90. All told Frank has over 30 years of coaching experience. He has coached teams in the Cranberry Cup and Foxboro Summer leagues, and was the director of G6 Hockey/Tiger's Edge from 2006-10. Frank also was the program director  and coach of Sharpe Hockey from 1998-2007. He has also coached at the junior high level, in Easton and has been involved with scores of youth hockey programs over the years as a coach and coordinator. Among them include the Tri-County Saints, King Philip/Walpole and Dedham youth hockey. Frank played hockey for Dedham Youth Hockey, Dedham High School and for the NEJHL Junior Tyngsboro Huskies. Outside of the rink Frank has enjoyed a long career at UPS, where he has been employed for over three decades. Coach Antonelli and his wife Rose live in Easton with Rose's children Alex and Marisa. Alex played hockey at Oliver Ames and graduated from UMass (Amherst). Marisa played field hockey at OA and is currently a nursing student at UNH. Frank's three sons Mike Chris and Matt live in Bellingham. Mike played hockey at Mansfield High School and attended New England Institute of Technology. His son Chris graduated from Bellingham High School and Matt is currently a senior at BHS.
